Effective People Lead Effective Meetings
Some meeting facilitators seem to be able to step in and despite
everything going array, take charge and direct the meeting to a
desirable conclusion and do this seemingly without effort,
whereas other facilitators painstakingly plan every moment of the
meeting, struggle to keep the agenda and participants on track,
and find themselves exhausted without producing results.
Meetings are more than just methods of organizing and
interacting with people, meetings are a test of your authority and
talents in taking responsibility. Before you can effectively take
charge of a meeting and lead it to productive ends, you must
deal with the inner issues - the inner struggle between the belief
in your ability and worthiness to take charge versus the process
of leading a meeting.
Effective People Lead Effective Meetings will teach you to:
Develop confidence in your abilities.
People confident in their abilities of self-expression know that
regardless of what happens they are in charge and capable of
handling any situation. Effective meetings do not start with the
techniques of organizing meetings; they start with the self-
concept of the meeting organizer. In this seminar, we help
organizers acquire the underlying self-concept of being capable
leaders before learning the methods of effective meetings.
Plan and organize meetings.
To ensure that the purpose of the meeting is clear and the
desired outcome is identified, participants are prepped in order to
positively contribute to the meeting, and all supporting and or
background material is available for the meeting.
Facilitate group interaction and participation.
The facilitator must learn to keep the meeting focused onto the
purpose and to deal with disruptive and dominating personalities,
to redirect discussion, and draw the quieter members into
contributing to the meeting discussion.
Conclude meetings with results.
Effective facilitators conclude meetings with solutions formulated
or action plan items being assigned.
